President Bola Tinubu has declined assent to two bills passed by the National Assembly, citing constitutional and drafting concerns that must be corrected before they can become law.

The affected bills are the Raw Materials Research and Development Council Amendment Bill 2026 and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria Bill.

In separate letters read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu said the proposed laws contained structural defects and provisions that exceeded the powers of the institutions involved.

The President asked lawmakers to review the identified issues and resubmit the bills for assent. Both communications have been referred to the Senate Committee on Rules and Business for further legislative action.
