The National Sports Commission says Lagos State was chosen to host the inaugural National Intermediate Games, tagged EKO 2026, because of its strong grassroots sports programme and sporting infrastructure.
The Games will hold from October 1 to 15 and feature athletes aged 15 to 18, providing a pathway for young talents to progress from grassroots participation to elite sports.
NSC Director General, Bukola Olopade, said the event will also focus on talent identification and development, with venues including Teslim Balogun Stadium, the National Stadium and other sporting facilities across Lagos.
