The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has urged residents and friends of Ibadan to mark his birthday and coronation anniversary with prayers and thanksgiving, rather than elaborate celebrations.

Ladoja, who will turn 82 on Friday and marks his first year on the throne on Saturday, said prayers should be offered for himself, the Ibadan traditional institution, Oyo State and Nigeria.

The monarch also appealed to well-wishers to channel their generosity to people in need, particularly residents of motherless babies’ homes, as part of the celebrations.
