The Nigeria Police Force has assured members of the National Youth Service Corps and other ad hoc electoral workers of adequate security during the 2027 general elections, following recent kidnapping incidents involving corps members in Ogun and Imo states.

Police spokesperson, Ani Iniedu, gave the assurance at a security briefing in Abuja, saying the Force had conducted a comprehensive threat assessment and was strengthening security arrangements in collaboration with INEC and other security agencies.

He added that the Inspector-General of Police had ordered the immediate distribution of operational equipment and logistics.

Iniedu also warned political actors against hate speech and incitement, disclosing that about 11 cases had been documented.

He said the police had directed Commissioners of Police to arrest and prosecute offenders.
