President Bola Tinubu has conferred the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on Lebanese-Nigerian businessman Gilbert Chagoury, recognizing his contributions and service to Nigeria.
The president described Chagoury as deserving of the honour for his “outstanding virtues” and national service.
Chagoury, co-founder of the Chagoury Group, has business interests in construction, real estate, hospitality, glass manufacturing, and flour milling, and is a key financier of the Eko Atlantic City project.
His group is also involved in the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway development.
The GCON is Nigeria’s second-highest national honour, after the GCFR, and confers the title, dignity, and privileges associated with the award.
