The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission says energy, fintech, and telecommunications companies generate the highest number of consumer complaints in Nigeria.
Executive Vice Chairman Tunji Bello told State House correspondents in Abuja that the agency resolves thousands of complaints yearly, recovering over 20 billion naira for consumers as of March 2026.
Between March and August 2025 alone, more than 9,000 complaints were resolved, yielding over 10 billion naira in recoveries.
Bello highlighted complaints about electricity supply, fintech loans with high interest rates, and telecom services, adding that the commission has begun monitoring petrol and commodity prices amid the US–Israel–Iran conflict to prevent exploitation.
