Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has officially launched the Lagos Education Access Fund, LEAF, aimed at improving learning outcomes, strengthening literacy and addressing the challenge of out-of-school children in the state.
The governor made this known at the launch of the programme organised by the Lagos State Government in partnership with the Education Outcomes Fund at Lagos House, Marina.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said the initiative is part of efforts to collaborate with partners to promote access to inclusive and qualitative education while advancing reforms to ensure that no child in the state is left behind.
He noted that the twenty-five million dollar Lagos Education Access Fund is targeted at tackling the problem of about two hundred thousand out-of-school children and other challenges facing basic education in the state.
The governor added that the initiative would give every child the opportunity to learn and build a purposeful future, while reiterating the state government’s commitment to the executive order restricting school-age children from roaming the streets between eight in the morning and four in the afternoon.
