Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has assured residents that the Opebi-Mende-Ojota Link Bridge will open to motorists before Christmas, despite delays beyond its September completion deadline.
During an inspection, the governor said the project’s complex engineering works, including a 300-tonne steel structure rising about 25 metres, had contributed to the delay.
He put completion of the structure at about 80 per cent and said contractors were working round the clock.
Sanwo-Olu said the remaining construction, painting, cleaning and landscaping would be completed before opening.
The bridge will also feature LED lighting in Lagos State colours and is expected to improve connectivity and create a new cultural and recreational landmark.
