Five Nigeria Democratic Congress candidates in Kano State have urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to respect existing court judgments affirming the candidature of two of them ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a petition submitted through the Kano Resident Electoral Commissioner, the candidates accused some party officials of using protests and media campaigns to challenge their nominations.
Their lawyer, Bola Aidi, SAN, said a Federal High Court in Kano affirmed two candidates’ candidature on October 14, 2026.
The candidates also urged INEC to remain neutral, protect its officials from political pressure and preserve documents relating to the disputed primaries.
They called on the commission to comply with valid court orders and ensure that all disputes are handled according to the law.
