Social Democratic Party presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, has opposed any move to suspend political campaigns or postpone the 2027 general election over the Ebola outbreak.

Speaking at a dinner in Abuja, Adebayo argued that a single confirmed case does not constitute an epidemic, citing Nigeria’s containment of the 2014 outbreak. He said public health measures should be observed without disrupting the electoral process.

Adebayo also announced that his party’s manifesto had been translated into several Nigerian languages to help voters understand its policies on security and welfare.

Health Minister, Professor Muhammad Pate, has similarly said there is no immediate need to cancel large gatherings, adding that any restrictions would depend on scientific evidence.
