The Oyo State Government has rejected allegations by the Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, that Governor Seyi Makinde is anti-Islam, insisting that his record of supporting Muslim communities contradicts the claim.

The governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, says Makinde built a mosque before becoming governor, supported Islamic programmes and declared a public holiday to mark the Hijrah New Year.

He also cited the rebuilding of the Adogba Central Mosque, demolished during the reconstruction of the Iwo Road Interchange.

The government challenged critics to identify any Islamic practice banned, Muslim institution proscribed or religious right withdrawn under Makinde’s administration since 2019
